National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Granted Additional ACE College Credit Recommendations

CCMA, CPT, CET, and CPCT exams now qualify for college credit hours

The American Council on Education’s College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE) has evaluated and recommended college credit for two additional National Healthcareer Association (NHA) certification exams. The two new nationally accredited certification exams are for becoming a Certified EKG Technician (CET) and a Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT/A). Those exams, along with NHA’s Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) and Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) exams, are now approved for college credit for those pursuing higher education after certification.

Certification holders who successfully passed or pass the CET & CPCT/A exam on or after June 1, 2022, are eligible to apply for ACE credit.

To be considered for college credit, subject matter experts from colleges and universities and a psychometrician review NHA’s certifications to determine the appropriate credit award.

ACE connects workplace learning with colleges and universities by helping adults access academic credit for formal courses and examinations they may take outside the traditional classroom.

For more than 30 years, colleges and universities have trusted ACE to provide reliable course equivalency information to facilitate their decisions to award academic credit. More than 2,000 colleges and universities consider ACE recommendations in determining the applicability of coursework and examination results to their courses and degree programs.

Through the ACE credit recommendation, NHA is living its mission of “helping people access a better future” by offering students pursuing higher education a flexible transfer of credits while promoting allied healthcare as a viable career with growth opportunities.
