NHA was proud to advocate for phlebotomists in Connecticut, as recently the governor signed two acts into law. Connecticut now defines ‘“phlebotomist” as "a person, acting on an order of a licensed physician, physician assistant, advanced practice registered nurse or podiatrist, who draws blood for diagnostic testing, transfusions, research or blood donations.”
The state law now provides that “a person who practices as a phlebotomist in the state may obtain certification as a phlebotomist from the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians, National Center for Competency Testing, National Phlebotomy Association, National Healthcareer Association or American Medical Technologists.”
Phlebotomist are not required to be certified in the state of Connecticut. However, only a certified phlebotomist working in a hospital may perform the extended phlebotomy function of "flushing a peripheral IV with prepackaged normal saline, in a single use pre-filled syringe."
This survey aimed to examine job satisfaction, sources of stress, professional and employer commitment, education, training and motivation for entry into the profession among Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhTs). Results of the survey were also used to determine relationships between those aforementioned variables and the CPhTs’ level of involvement in various work activities.

The roles of pharmacy technicians are increasingly prominent given pharmacy's transition to patient-centered activities and the evolving scope of practice in the United States and throughout the world.
The aims of this study were to assess U.S. pharmacy technicians' self-efficacies for and attitudes toward performing current and emerging roles in hospital and in community pharmacy and to identify factors related to pharmacy technician self-efficacies in these roles.
