NHA in the News: Strengthen Our Health Workforce

Posted by National Healthcareer Association on January 2026

While Congress works on setting its budget for the year, NHA strongly supports continued full federal funding for CTE and Job Corps programs. These dollars help programs serve more students, expand career opportunities, and keep their doors open.

NHA’s own Senior Director of Government Relations, Kurt Burkum, was recently featured in his local paper, arguing that while “allied health professionals form the backbone of patient care,” this funding is needed to keep clinics operational, support our hospitals, and help patients maintain their health. If policymakers in Washington are serious about addressing our country’s healthcare workforce shortages, they must fully preserve and fund CTE and Job Corps programs at current funding levels.
