Pharmacy Times® and NHA to Produce Inaugural Pharmacy Technician Supplement

Written by Erin Venable | October 2020

CRANBURY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pharmacy Times®, the leading multimedia resource for pharmacy professionals, in collaboration with the National Healthcareer Association (NHA), will publish The Pharmacy Technician Edition™, an inaugural supplement for pharmacy technician team members, in tandem with its October issue.

“Pharmacy technicians serve as a valuable player for the pharmacy team and really make a difference in the lives of their patients by being an integral part of their care plan,” said John Hydrusko, vice president of Pharmacy & Healthcare Communications, LLC, publisher of Pharmacy Times®. “We look forward to launching this original resource developed for these technicians in partnership with the National Healthcareer Association.”

A recent Gallup poll found that Americans trust pharmacy professionals as much as they do medical doctors. Pharmacy technicians play a vital role in building that trust with patients. This supplement will serve as an original resource on the expanding technician role and how technicians affect the whole pharmacy team. As pharmacies continue to provide more direct patient-care services and pharmacists carry a heavier workload resulting from the pandemic, pharmacy technicians are increasingly taking on new responsibilities, such as COVID-19 testing.

The inaugural issue of The Pharmacy Technician Edition™ will provide resources to educate pharmacy technicians about taking on an expanded role in the pharmacy and acquiring increased responsibilities. Articles in the supplement will cover training, essential skills to elevate pharmacy careers, updates to technicians’ roles after COVID-19, and positive outcomes for patients using opioids and more.

“NHA is thrilled to support Pharmacy Times on this exciting project that gives pharmacy technicians their own place for news and information. The supplement is a perfect example of collaboration amongst industry leaders that have come together to put pharmacy technicians first and help elevate the profession,” says Jessica Langley-Loep, executive director of education and advocacy for NHA.
