Meet the Authors/Presenters

Jessica Langley, MS, B.S.R.T. (R)(CT) is the Executive Director of Education and Advocacy for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Her role at NHA puts her at the forefront of national efforts to influence allied health education and training, certification acceptance and regulation throughout the United States.

Langley is a clinician by trade and has held national certifications for the past 20 years. Working alongside physicians and health care professionals, Langley is committed to guiding and enhancing quality patient care across health care settings.

Langley has published multiple articles about and is regularly invited to speak on topics such as the role of certification, regulatory advances and industry trends in the allied health field

What do you hope certification holders get out of this presentation?

As health care evolves, allied health professionals have become an essential part of delivering health care services that aims to improve the quality of patient care, the patient’s quality of life, the patient’s overall experience and overall health outcomes. Approximately 60% of the healthcare workforce is made up of allied health professionals that make a critical difference in the health and wellbeing of patients.

What are some ways that allied health professionals can advocate for themselves in the industry?

Allied health professionals need to have a bigger voice that supports and recognizes the value that their roles bring to the healthcare industry. Individuals can become involved in state and national level associations and membership organizations that also help advocate for the regulatory, recognition and advancement of allied health professions.

What are some ways that NHA advocates for their certification holders?  

• Engaging with regulatory and legislative bodies to promote certification throughout the United States.
• Building strategic partnerships between educators and employers.
• Promoting the value of certification in the industry.
• Enhancing industry recognition.
• Industry thought leadership through NHA publications, research, and news updates in the NHA news center
• Ongoing support for allied health professionals including tools and resources for career development.
