National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Granted Additional ACE College Credit Recommendations
CCMA, CPT, CET, and CPCT exams now qualify for college credit hours
The American Council on Education’s College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE) has evaluated and recommended college credit for two additional National Healthcareer Association (NHA) certification exams. The two new nationally accredited certification exams are for becoming a Certified EKG Technician (CET) and a Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT/A). Those exams, along with NHA’s Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) and Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) exams, are now approved for college credit for those pursuing higher education after certification.
Beginning in 2017 the Arizona Medical Board began reviewing the existing rules regarding training requirement for Medical Assistants (MA). During this review process, the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) was provided an opportunity to speak with the Board’s staff about the value of accredited certification and the various training pathways to entry into the Medical Assistant profession.
As the field of medical assisting evolves and demand for these positions grow, National Healthcareer Association (NHA) has released the new medical assistant (CCMA) certification exam reflecting changes in the industry. After much rigor, and with the input of many practicing industry experts, this exam tests the most current and relevant competencies necessary to ensure proficiency as newly NHA certified medical assistants enter the workforce.
