The World Health Organization (WHO) released a new International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) that took effect on Jan. 1, 2022, and will be important to billing and coding professionals. The United States does not have a set transition date for officially adopting ICD-11 and its Clinical Modification (ICD-11).
