LEAWOOD, Kan. (February 13, 2017) – The state of Texas has approved the National Healthcareer Association’s (NHA) Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT®) as a certification meeting the professional requirements of this growing field. Prior to the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (the Board) approving the ExCPT on February 7, the state recognized only one certification program.

(December 6, 2016) – The state of Arizona now recognizes National Healthcareer Association’s (NHA) Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT®) as an approved certification, meeting the licensure requirements of this growing field. Prior to the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy (the Board) approving the ExCPT on November 17, the state recognized only one certification program.

Updates on ICD-10 and Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) Exam Content
NHA has diligently monitored the progress and updates with regard to the transition to ICD-10 occurring October 1, 2015. NHA is committed to providing up-to-date assessments reflecting current practice. To achieve this goal with regard to ICD-10, NHA has collected data and reviewed the quality of exam questions related to the new ICD-10 standards. After October 1, 2015, questions meeting the review standards will be released for use on the Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) exam, ensuring that candidates are assessed on their understanding of ICD-10.
