Texas professionals will have another certification option in growing field

LEAWOOD, Kan. (February 13, 2017) – The state of Texas has approved the National Healthcareer Association’s (NHA) Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT®) as a certification meeting the professional requirements of this growing field. Prior to the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (the Board) approving the ExCPT on February 7, the state recognized only one certification program.

Since the inception of the ExCPT exam in 2009, NHA has consistently advocated for well-trained, certified pharmacy technicians. We remain steadfast in our belief that certification candidates should meet certain training requirements, which can be achieved through multiple reputable educational pathways.

Arizona professionals now have another certification option in growing field

(December 6, 2016) – The state of Arizona now recognizes National Healthcareer Association’s (NHA) Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT®) as an approved certification, meeting the licensure requirements of this growing field. Prior to the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy (the Board) approving the ExCPT on November 17, the state recognized only one certification program.

 California professionals now have another certification option in growing field

(November 2, 2016) – The state of California now recognizes National Healthcareer Association’s (NHA) Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT®) as a pathway to licensure in this growing field. Prior to the California State Board of Pharmacy (the Board) approving the ExCPT on October 27, the state accepted only one such certification option.

Educators and employers alike know National Healthcareer Association (NHA) certifications act as markers of health care workers’ knowledge and professionalism. Over the years, ATI Allied Health study materials have helped countless candidates prepare for their NHA exams.

NHA has diligently monitored the progress and updates with regard to the transition to ICD-10 occurring October 1, 2015.  NHA is committed to providing up-to-date assessments reflecting current practice. To achieve this goal with regard to ICD-10, NHA has collected data and reviewed the quality of exam questions related to the new ICD-10 standards. After October 1, 2015, questions meeting the review standards will be released for use on the Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) exam, ensuring that candidates are assessed on their understanding of ICD-10.
